My name is Guewen. This began one day in July 1977 in France.
My parents chose this first name from a florist's calendar because they thought it was beautiful. No other way.
During my teenage years I didn't like it, it was hard to pronounce and far too mixed for the teenager that I was. For the anecdote, I remember the month of July 1990 when the director of the summer camp in Malesherbes asked my mother "where is Gaywhen?" while visiting the girls' dormitory. I was there.
It would be necessary to invent vocabulary to nuance the gender of first names, because feminine, masculine, mixed are not enough representative of our diversity.
Since then, I try to remember the mention "Sir" on my correspondence. Once, I received a prospecting call and even after saying hello with my strong voice, the caller asked me if I was indeed "Mrs. Gwen". I answered "yes, that's me" to see how far it would go.
But in the end, along the way, unexpected things, out of the ordinary, singular, bizarre, "out of the box", attracted my attention more and more. What I thought was a ball and chain was in fact my super-power, my empowermentz.
So this name oriented my choices towards the world of the Arts. I began my studies in Applied Arts (bac F12 in France) in high school at the Ecole Estienne (Paris 13e). Then design studies at the Ecole de Design Nantes Atlantique.
My name is Guewen, phonetically it's [ge]-[wen]. I create parametric rings as a little sculpture in a next gen creative way. THe way that remind you to stay yourself, an original, and well in your sneakers if possible. Because the world is beautiful with originals.
